Voice LessonsI am pleased to offer private voice lessons. I teach voice improvement for speakers as well as singing lessons. I teach singing to adults, teens and children (age 12 and up). I work with all styles and levels of ability.
I typically recommend that high school aged teens schedule 45 minute lessons and Adults schedule one-hour lessons. Young children usually do best with half hour lessons.
Guidelines for Voice Students
-
Most students are using written assignments (in a folder, notebook and or hand-out sheets) and a cassette tape or CD with vocal exercises. For continuity, these should accompany each student to his or her lesson each week.
- Please come to your lesson in comfortable clothes as we will often do stretching exercises and breath work in various positions. Please avoid excessively baggy sweatshirts as it is important to see the muscles of breathing as we do this work.
- Please come to voice lessons with a willingness to experiment with and experience your voice in new (but healthy) ways.
- Every effort should be made to show up to your lesson on time. Please also be kind enough not to show up for your lesson more than 5 minutes early.
- Unless there is a bonafide emergency or illness, I ask students to give me 24-hour notice if a lesson must be cancelled. Your consideration in this matter is appreciated.
- If you have a 45 minute or a half-hour lesson and we seem to need a little more time I usually am happy to extend the lesson time free of charge as long as both of our schedules permit this. If half-hour lessons for children seem to consistently need more time due to the needs of the student, the student will be requested to schedule a 45-minute lesson and pay for the additional time.
- In order to make progress vocally I advise all students to practice a minimum of 10 minutes a day, 5 days/week, consistantly. If you have many exercises you can try different ones on different days. All exercises should feel comfortable and unstrained. Should any questions arise please feel free to call me. I am dedicated to your success and want to hear from you. You can also email me at: ronni@vocalfocus.com . I am happy to answer any vocal questions.
